MICHAEL SONTAG

The designer Michael Sontag sees his work as a 'whole'. With this in mind, he prefers not to term his fashion as a collection, but rather as his 'work', which he creates in a process one could call 'flowing'.

His work never leaves a past season untouched. Instead, it's a never-ending process with new ideas flowing from old ones, so, at a show all he offers is an insight into his journey thus-far in an attempt to blur the common fashion borders: seasons, trends, consumers' age and other fashion parameters.

This approach is evident in the clarity of his designs - designs which are never drawn, but come to life on mannequins through drapery. The direct application of fabrics on mannequins results in clean, organic forms which cover the human body in evolving lines and surfaces. His ambition: light, natural pieces which will hopefully put a smile on any woman’s face.
