KAVIAR GAUCHE

MARRY ME!
"An elaborate fashion extravaganza: Kaviar Gauche's runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin on July 4 was all about bridal fashion – and what is more, just as its MBFWB debut in January 2009, the spectacular performance under the working title "MARRY ME" exceeded everybody's expectations."

The fact that KAVIAR GAUCHE decided to place the focus on its young line BRIDAL COUTURE underlines the trend that even young urbanites tie the knot with absolute conviction again. Launched at the beginning of the year, the BRIDAL COUTURE collection featuring the gorgeous Stella, Stripe, Venus and Empire dresses was in such great demand that Alexandra Fischer-Roehler and Johanna Kühl decided to top it off with new designs.

More than ever, KAVIAR GAUCHE made sure not to restrict itself to the pomp and circumstance cliché associated with bridal fashion. While the festive, feminine look remains unchanged, the innocent touch was contrasted with provocative details and accessories from the Punk, Post-Punk and New Romantic style repertoire.

The result: exclusive bow belts that echo KAVIAR GAUCHE's cult lamella leather look or long blazers remodeled into casual dresses. Slim, angel-like or lavish silk chiffon creations reminiscent of early MGM/Hollywood days were eyecatchers for many reasons – e.g. thanks to the contrasting rivet, chain and leather details. KAVIAR GAUCHE never hesitated whether to combine festive wedding gowns in white, champagne or ivory and exquisite Swarovski hand jewellery with heavy punk boots. Yes, we can – and in style!

Had Blondie aka Debby Harry married in the late 1970s she would definitely have done so in one of the label's BRIDAL COUTURE designs. As for the successful show at MBFW, the guests were highly enthusiastic about the musical experience as well. With Gainsbourg/Birkin's scandalous title "Je t’aime" opening the show, followed by Rammstein's "Engel" and “Heirate mich” and culminating in the everlasting Kiss hit "I Was Made For Loving You", Heaven and Earth have rarely come closer in a fashion show.
